Random police calls: 06/17/2011


The following police calls were made June 17, 2011.

9:12 p.m. - A man reportedly threatened to "shoot up" a River North neighborhood bar.

The incident occurred at Boss Bar, 420 North Clark Street.

The offender, a black man in his thirties, was last seen carrying a backpack and walking eastbound on Hubbard Street.

According to police dispatch, the complainant did not see a gun.

9:16 p.m. - Chicago police officers stationed downtown were following a "large group" of people. The group was walking eastbound on Ontario, from Ontario and Michigan Avenue.

9:23 p.m. - Four black males and a black female were allegedly harassing people in front of Marina Towers, 300 North State Street. The group was last seen walking northbound on State Street.

9:24 p.m. - The Lincoln Park Peace Fest, located at 1700 North Stockton Drive, just south of the Lincoln Park Petting zoo, violated the terms of their permit, said police.

According to an officer at the scene, the permit allows 1,000 people to attend the event.

The officer said more than 3,000 people were at the fest.

9:44 p.m. - Police were called to 1506 North Washtenaw Avenue.

According to police dispatch, several women involved in a Puerto Rican festival were fighting on the street.

The Puerto Rican Day Parade is June 18, 2011, in downtown Chicago, at noon.

9:59 p.m. - A man reportedly shot himself in the head at 2901 West 59th Street.

10:29 p.m. - A gang of male blacks and male Hispanics chased a man near the intersection of Clark and Division, said one report.

The incident happened near the Jewel-Osco at 1210 North Clark Street, said police.

The alleged offenders were wearing light blue tank tops.

10:37 p.m. - Police were called to the Lawson YMCA at 30 West Chicago Avenue.

A man was reportedly attacked at that location. However, it's unclear if the incident happened inside or outside of the YMCA.

The alleged offender was last seen running westbound on Chicago Avenue.

  1. There's nothing on the Humboldt Park video except for music and dancing. I drove by the fest yesterday at 1630 and the fest was almost empty (hardly no one there). I guess the probabilty of violence scared everyone away. Then again it was early in the day.

  2. thats's not why the video was posted. tim only wanted to show that there were blacks and purto ricans there and then he reports the fight or whatever happened. you have to read between the lines.
