Deshon Marman arrested at San Francisco airport over US Airways sagging pants dispute

San Francisco -- 20-year-old Deshon Marman was arrested Wednesday, June 15, 2011, after US Airways employees instructed him to pull up his sagging pants.

When Marman refused, he was arrested.

An estimated 150 passenger had to get off the plane, while Marman was taken into custody.

According to KTVU.com, US Airways flight attendants said Marman's pants were around his knees.

The airline employees felt Marman's sagging pants were "offensive", said the KTVU.com report.

The 20-year-old University of New Mexico football player has been charged with trespassing, battery, and resisting arrest.

Marman's mother, Donna Doyle, said her son was "stereotyped" because of his pants, his color, and his dreadlocks. She wants the charges brought against her son, dropped.

Before his arrest, the college athlete attended his best friend's funeral in San Francisco.

Some online critics are accusing US Airways of racial profiling and racism.

  3. This has nothing to do with race. Your racist for assuming that the US Airways employees are white. I don't want to see someones underwear. That's why it's called UNDERwear your not suppose to see it. Maybe he should have just pulled up his pants like the nice person asked him to. Maybe he shouldn't have fought with people and resisted arrest.

  7. Profiling? racism? Are you saying it's a "black" thing than? Come on! All he had to do was pull them up. I'm not interested in seeing what kind of boxers or tidy whities he's wearing. Here's another thing, Do these guys, who where their pants down to their ankles, think women aren't interested in checking THEIR butts out like they check out women's butts?? Sheesh

Here's a heads up. When they ask you to pull them up, pull them up. When a cop asks you to stop, STOP...very simple

Guess it has nothing to do with Chicago EXCEPT we see the same thing all over the place here:)
