Drive-by paintball gun shootings

Police are investigating several reports of drive-by paintball gun shootings on Chicago’s North Side.

At 10:10 p.m., a man standing at the intersection of Lincoln and Grace Street, was struck in the leg with a paintball.

According to police dispatch, the incident occurred near the Lakeview neighborhood Trader Joe's at 3745 North Lincoln Avenue.

The offenders were riding in an older model, dark-colored, box-styled van, said authorities.

The van, and its three male occupants, were last seen headed southbound on Lincoln Avenue, then westbound on Waveland.

The victim was unable to describe the suspects, because their faces were covered, said police.

There were similar reports of drive-by paintball shootings at the intersections of Roscoe and Janssen, and Irving Park Road and Ashland.

In those cases, the offending vehicle was described as a blue or green van.

When misused, paintball guns can cause serious eye injuries, eye infections, welts, internal organ injuries, and bone damage.
