Gov. Quinn opposes concealed weapons, plans to veto bill
Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn, doesn't think you have the right to protect yourself.
Gov. Quinn has a group of body guards, so why should he give a damn if the rest of us are unable to defend ourselves by carrying a concealed weapon?
At a recent press conference, the clueless politician vowed to veto any bill that allows Illinois citizens to carry a conceal weapon.
"The concept of concealed, loaded hand guns in the possession of private citizens does not enhance public safety, on the contrary it increases danger for everyday people as they go about their lives. I think it's important that we defeat this bill. I have no intention of signing it," said the hypocrite who is safeguarded by an armed security team.
Several Chicago police organizations support the citizens' rights to carry concealed weapons.

What a moron! Here's a thought Governor. Let's pull a "Jane Bryne" and you give up your ARMED body guards for a week or even a month just so you can see what the "commoners" have to go through! Better yet, ALL you deaf and blind politicians need to give up your right to conceal/carry and body guards for a week, hell, make it a month. Than let's see how fast you pass this bill! Taking my right away to defend myself is just UNCONSTITUTIONAL, reducing the police force that's SUPPOSE to protect me, is just plain STUPID and taking the death penalty off the table just put me,and the rest of the citizens in even more DANGER!
ReplyDeleteIf I am given the opportunity to conceal/carry, take ALL the lessons I need and follow the law, I can promise you I won't miss!
"GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE" my ass!
Someone should force Quinn to ride the CTA Red Line from 95th street to Howard, every day for a month, alone and unarmed.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great fricking idea! Too bad us peons don't have the power to force him to do it:(
T., it amazes when people who have no idea what it's really like to live in Chicago, try to tell us what's best for us. Until Quinn has to live among the various neighborhood thugs, he should keep his mouth shut.
ReplyDeleteI'll still carry pepper and a big ass padlock to ball up in my fist to whomp some %^$##hole
ReplyDeleteTimothy,
ReplyDeleteQuinn previously lived in Oak Park and Galewood, when those areas were considered good or excellent.
Maybe he needs to move into a studio apartment in Chatham or Uptown.
ReplyDeleteTimothy, I agree 1000%. :)
ReplyDeleteIn the 2010 election, Quinn won citywide, including the LGBT communities.
In 2014, the choices might boil down to pro-LGBT
or pro-public safety candidates.
Since the public includes all people, I have to support a pro-public safety candidate. What good are gay rights if you are going to be continually mugged while walking home from your local gay bar?
ReplyDeleteTimothy, that's precisely my point, because single issue voting isn't always the best strategy. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a gay man, I would NEVER vote for someone just because they are gay or claim to have a gay agenda. It takes more than a rainbow flag to get my vote. :-)
ReplyDeleteTimothy, that's good. I'm the same way with racial and ethnic voting. :)
ReplyDeleteFrom Detective Shaved Longcock:
ReplyDeleteRep. Monique Davis, D-Chicago, said she cannot get beyond the violent deaths of Chicago police officers.
“I, too, like the John Wayne movies,” Davis said. “I like those movies about the Wild West where everybody’s carrying a weapon and everybody’s shooting at each other. We don’t live in those days any more… America is no longer the Wild, Wild West. I urge a no vote.”
Outgoing Rep. Harry Osterman, D-Chicago, warned the legislation would lead to people bringing guns to places like Navy Pier and create tragedy.
"This will add to injury, to death," said Osterman, who was recently elected to the city council.
Rep. Marlow Colvin, D-Chicago, said downstate lawmakers come from places that are much different from the more dangerous streets of Chicago. He feared what would happen if concealed weapons were allowed at an event like the Independence Day fireworks in Chicago, where a million people may turn out.
“Talk about powderkeg,” Colvin said. “One size does not fit all.”
