How much of CTA's financial woes are due to their employees carelessness and, or malfeasance?
In January of 2013, the price of a 30-day pass will jump from $86 to $100. Meanwhile, CTA employees, who ride for free at the taxpayers' expense, are allegedly giving away free rides by leaving access gates open and fare booths unattended.
In a series of YouTube videos, which have gone largely unnoticed, a ticked-off CTA rider recorded unlocked gates and unmanned fare booths at the CTA Thorndale "L" in Edgewater -- the Lawrence stop in Uptown -- and at the downtown Randolph and Wabash station.
A Chicago Transit Authority worker at the Thorndale station not only left the gate open, he apparently had an unauthorized female companion inside the fare booth.

I always think it's peculiar that a CTA employee never comes when you hear "assistance needed on the outbound platform" - 3 times. I always look around to see if anyone needs help and if there's anything I can do. I realize most of them are too fat to climb the steps, but....

It's funny that you state your racist unfounded opinions as facts. Actually data shows that whites are the race that receives, government assistance the most. You might not be aware that rural whites exist because all you see are, "lazy blacks." It must be very hard to function with such a limited view. I would like to think that most adults today can seperate a few " bad apples." All black people are not criminals or single mothers using social welfare. But, maybe it makes those few people who cannot grasp this concept, feel better to throw insults and misinformed facts.

ReplyDeleteHow much do these CTA workers get? The best was a woman named Bernita who used to work at Madison& Wells. She was wonderful, so helpful! She had excellent customer service skills. She was always out helping the public, not avoiding them like most.

ReplyDeleteIt is not an opinion, it is a fact that the ratio of blacks on welfare is higher than whites. Yes the statistics state that the percentage of whites is higher because the population of whites is much higher. Because we live in an urban environment yes we do see a lot of "lazy blacks" this is also true. Are we imagining things? Is this a "limited view"? No not all blacks are criminals or single mothers using welfare, just enough to make us notice that there is a serious problem. Even other blacks will admit it.
