Teen shot in Belmont-Cragin neighborhood

A teenager was taken to the hospital by a friend or family member, after being shot near a CTA bus stop on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

At 10:11 p.m., police were investigating a shooting at North Lockwood Avenue and West Deming Place in Chicago’s Belmont-Cragin neighborhood.

Witnesses said a large white van was seen leaving the scene northbound on Lockwood.

At the time, police weren’t sure if anyone had been shot.

Around 10:30 p.m., police were notified that a 15-year-old gunshot victim was at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center, 5645 West Addison Street.

The teen, whose sex was not identified, told authorities the shooting happened at a CTA bus stop near West Fullerton and North Lockwood Avenues.

However, evidence seem to contradict the wounded teenager’s account of where the shooting occurred.

Police found shell casing at 5248, 5250, and 5051 West Deming Place; which is approximately seven blocks away from where the teen claimed to be shot.

A van parked at 5251 West Deming had multiple bullet holes in it, said police.

The teenager’s condition was not disclosed

  1. Summer in the south side is going to be like the OK corral. It's so not fair that children can't enjoy the summer in their neighborhood because of these ghetto thugs. Do these criminals EVER get caught? "Gun ban" my "arse!"
