Rogers Park thief takes man’s coat, phone

Adding to the ever-growing list of robberies on Chicago's Far North Side, a man was mugged in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

The crime was reported around 10:33 p.m.

The victim was on the 1200 block of West Arthur Avenue, near the corner of Arthur and Lakewood Avenues, when he was approached by a black male suspect, said police.

The offender implied he had a weapon, possibly a knife, and demanded the victim's black North Face jacket and his iPhone, said authorities. The victim complied.

According to police dispatch reports, the thief is approximately six-feet-tall with an average build, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

No further details are available.

  1. Are you fricking kidding me? Now they're stealing our clothes? Now we can't wear a certain item? IPhones, Ipads, Ipods and now The North Face? WTF!

  2. Apparently, North Face jackets are pretty popular among thieves. This explains why they are always shoplifting at The North Face store, downtown.

  3. Today's thefts of 'North Face' jackets is akin to the 1980s'/1990s' theft of starter jackets and gym shoes (i.e. Nike).

I was thinking the same thing about the spike in cell phone robberies. I remember when young black men were being robbed or killed, seemingly everyday, for Nike gym shoes and Starter coats!
