Eight black male teenagers, viciously attacked a man on the street, said police.
Authorities said robbery appeared be the motive for the assault.
One of the attackers wore his hair in dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a red jacket, said police.
The extent of the victim's injuries were not disclosed.
If you have any information about this crime, please contact the police.
Once again, a bunch of blacks attacking a helpless person on the street. While another "anonymous" insists in other strings on this site that the perpetrators' race is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is that it IS relevant.

When I start to read stories about 2, 3, or 8 white people robbing and beating people in Chicago, I'll change my tune.

Downtown Chicago has been on an increasing decline. I live on the north side and work downtown. The thuggery and bad behavior is on the increase. I commute on the El and walk all over Michigan Ave, Streeterville and Loop every day. When I walk out for lunch or walk to our meeting in the West Loop I always play a mental game called "Count the Cops and Count the Bust outs" Usually the Bustouts outnumber the cops about 15:1. Often I can walk from Michigan and Wacker to Wacker and Jackson without seeing a single policeman.
ReplyDeleteA few weeks ago I saw four thugs at the corner of State and Randolph brazenly smoking a reefer at about 2pm. They seemed to have no fear of arrest.
Sadly we will probably have some heinous attack this year in the Downtown area. An attack that will be seen by many, possibly videotaped and endlessly played on You Tube a la the Derrion Albert killing. This will begin the demise on the Michigan Ave retail district and the tourism economy.
If I were a downtown retailer or business owner I would by camped out in the office of Ald Reilly and Ald Fioretti demanding changes.
We shall see what the Emmanuel regime brings.

I can bet you that IF citizens were allowed to conceal-carry, crime in this city would dramatically drop. After all, these ghetto thugs are cowards down deep. Also, try reading my profile..I'm retired AFTER WORKING ALL MY LIFE so I can be on here all day and night IF I want too. A few weeks ago, I was jogging down Chicago Avenue on a Sunday evening. As I crossed Michigan Avenue, I noticed a group of 20 boisterous African American teens, loitering and chatting it up on the sidewalk. As I passed them, my IPhone fell out of my pocket. I quickly picked it up and continued jogging. A couple of seconds later, I was suddenly grabbed by my coat and kicked in the back of my legs. I turned to find 3 African American teens laughing wholeheartedly at my expense. They took off running, and I chased them. As I yelled, "Where the f*** are you going p*ssies?", a police car pulled up. Yes. I am a woman. I was quick to file a complaint. That group completely scrambled. As I filed my report, the police officer advised me that there have been a OVERWHELMING number of incidents involving robbery, assault, and battery in the River North and Loop areas, MOSTLY involving African Americans who enjoy shoplifting and stealing I-goods. The YMCA and McDonald's on Chicago Avenue are BAD news. Both establishments attract thugs, and it appears that they loiter for hours upon end without any interference. I can't imagine that the McDonald's corporate office hasn't received an overwhelming number of complaints. So, I'm not talking about the world as noted in the above commentary. I'm familiar with the world. I'm a world traveler. I'm talking about downtown Chicago. I'm talking about the $1600 that I pay in rent montly to live in a SAFE, well lit and heavily populated area that's close to the office. I've been able to jog anytime prior to 10 p.m. without being assaulted over a period of 5 years. I am a young, hardworking professional, and I don't have time to worry about rampant parasitic thugs who want to make money off of and enjoy stolen stuff because they've made poor, uneducated, and worthless decisions. My money. My I-Phone. I'm keeping it. I work for what I have. This needs to stop. I've seen "impoverished". My family comes from a country where garbage is used to build shanties, and kids sell cigarettes, eggs, and their bodies on the streets to make cash for their families. I get it. Thugs loitering in the Gold Coast and River North areas are up to no good. I have no compassion for them. Plain and simple. The crowds that these areas are attracting are changing. That's common sense. You can see it with your own eyes. Go to the CAPs meetings. Complain to the alderman. We need to get involved because it's not going to get any better. Bless that poor old lady who was pushed down the El stairs for an IPhone by the way...Hopefully, her murderer will be found.

In a prior work environment, I had MacDonalds as a client and it was well known in the business I was in that MacDonalds pretty much only hires black people. Discrimination? For sure, against qualified white kids. It's been a well kept secret for decades. Whenever MacDonalds needed help, there was always an asterisk by their name. Why? We had to go see the account holder to learn they wanted blacks only. True story. Believe it or not. The YMCA? Ha, it's glorified single room only housing. These kids hanging about in the Gold Coast and the River North area are there only to rob the retailers and the people down there. The only change that will come is when the loitering laws change and the Alderman in those wards care more about their constituents than they do about the glamor and reputation of Michigan Ave. Since the majority of the wealth is located in and around that area and it seems to be a tourist destination, I am stunned that the police aren't doubled up to protect it better. These kids need to be told to move along, go home and have their ID's checked for curfew and warrant violations. UNTIL the Alderman, residents and police get more involved, these punks will put the word out about where they are getting their goods and more and more will make the trek down there to get their share.
@towanda, I get exactly what you're saying and agree with you. I love the "ghetto thug" expression and I am assuming you simply refer to the black kids who are the criminals of this city and not the the blacks who, as you put it, who "contribute and participate". I think you are using it to distinguish between the two, right?

If the greatest percentage of crimes are being committed by BLACKS, why is it racist to say they are out of control if it's true? People aren't blind just because they may stay in their neighborhood, which I doubt is the case with towanda. She/he tells it like it is and I respect that. More people need to do that and stop sugar coating the issue because they don't want to offend a certain group because it might not seem politically correct. The facts are the facts.

Based on what I have been hearing on the scanner, there simply aren't enough police working in the downtown area to effectively combat the ever-increasing crime in the area. And the thieves know it.

Hopefully, the necessary changes are made to tighten security in the downtown areas. As I stated, I've routinely jogged down Chicago Avenue for over 5 years and have never felt threatened. I've seen many questionable faces. Assailants come in all shapes, colors, and sizes, and I don't mind "ghetto thugs" as long as they have respect for others' safety and well-being. That is the obligation of any human being, and that is all that I myself expect.

ReplyDeleteman's attack on Wabash, I won't be jogging as much outside - if at all anymore. I jogged down Michigan Avenue to the South Loop around 8 p.m., around the time that this attack happened. I could've easily been targeted again. I cringe at the thought of being victimized again, especially since it is apparent that the city does not have enough officers to consistently and rountinely monitor these areas. It's saddening that citizens must consider abandoning the things that they enjoy as a result of others who wish to inflict harm upon and harass people.
I have lived in the South Loop for a couple years now, north of Roosevelt. I have never had a problem, and I do walk around a lot, although I can see where and how someone might encounter dangers. I also have experienced that once the weather gets warmer, there are more bad elements hanging around. I do think in some areas of the loop, the police have pushed trouble out, especially around 24 hour convenience stores. And if you have learned in your every day life that making racist comments is inappropriate, it should not be ok here.
