2 cars, motorcycle crash in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood
Several people were injured in a car accident on Chicago’s Northwest Side.
The crash happened around 7:28 p.m. near the intersection of North Elston and West Berteau Avenues, which is approximately 4201 North Elston in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood.
A motorcyclist hit two cars in traffic, said an officer at the scene. Several witnesses spoke with investigators and gave their account of what happened.
Two ambulances were called to the scene.
One of the injured motorists, presumably the man on the motorcycle, is said to be in very serious condition.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

I'm one the motorcycle riders that was involved in the crash and the cause of this accident is the Chicago Police were trying to hit us while we were riding our bikes and chasing us without the siren or the police light for over a mile ( chasing us illegally ), the other rider which is a very close friend is in very bad shape and is in very serious condition and once he leave the hospital in a month or so he'll be on wheelchair for at least 3 months before he can start walking , THANK YOU Chicago Police Department - District 17
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your friend and I hope he makes a full recovery.
ReplyDeleteIf you knew the police were "chasing" you, why didn't you stop and see what they wanted? Can you clarify what you meant when you said the police were trying to "hit" you?
all i know is if the police wanted to stop us THEY SHOULD put there siren and police lights ON to let us know that we being pulled over , not chase us illegally, that's what caused us to crash, we wrong for that no doubt but all this wouldn't happen if the police didn't chase us illegally, we could been both dead because of the Chicago police smart move to chase people illegally and got a huge accident because a small traffic ticket
ReplyDeleteAnd you could've killed innocent people by starting a police chase in the first place instead of pulling over. Maybe they didn't have their sirens on, and that's wrong, but you were the one they were chasing.
ReplyDeletewe have our license, insurance and registration and we don't have nothing to hide, if they pulled us over legally we have no reason to run, to us we only saw a big SUV running after us and trying to hit us, we didn't know it was police till we crashed, so if they just turned the siren and police light on none of this would happen
ReplyDeletei am usually the first one want the cops to be responsible for any bad deeds but the cyclist has a duty to stop when police are trying to pull him/her over anything less than that and you are putting your life, and possibly the lives of others, at risk. shame on the motorcyclist for his stupidity and I hope he is put on jail for causing a police chase.
ReplyDeletetoo bad motorcycle riders aren't required to take an IQ test
ReplyDeleteToo bad motorcyclist's aren't held to the same "rules of the road" as the rest of us. How many times do you see a motorcycle pulled over for speeding? Or pulled over for violation of the noise ordinance? Or for the muffler ordinance, which states that they cannot alter their mufflers? Most motorcycle riders who drive down Sheridan Rd or LSD, are complete assholes! If the city just started enforcing those ordinances, they probably could get out of debt!
ReplyDeleteTowanda, as a motorcycle driver, I've been issued tickets for going 7mph over the limit and once for "rolling through a stop sign" here in the city. I actually think we get hassled a little more since we don't blend in as easily. My bike is quieter than my car, and I drive very carefully, as if I am invisible to other motorists. Yet, I've been rear ended, run off onto a sidewalk, and have had things thrown into my face by aggressive drivers.
ReplyDeleteMy point is, there are a LOT of asshole drivers in Chicago. The difference is that motorcycle assholes are just more likely to kill themselves and less likely to kill you. :)
Benn, You're right, I should have said "some" because I know there are some courteous motorcyclists out there and I know there are some asshole drivers out there as well. I live on Sheridan and in the last year, one pedestrian has been hit and killed, at least 10 accidents just in a block by my building and motorcycle gangs roar down Sheridan at all hours of the night. Hell, we can't even open our windows the noise from their "altered" mufflers is so loud. That's so not cool!
ReplyDeleteTowanda,
ReplyDeleteThen, no matter your age or television preference, this episode will have you on the floor laughing:

Benn, I needed a ROFLMAO but couldn't pull that up so I'm taking your word for it.
ReplyDeleteIt's basically a South Park episode about loud bikers where they try to pass official legislation to change the term "fag" to describe them instead of a derogatory word to describe homosexuals.
ReplyDeleteWhy were you trying to avoid the cops? Did you exceed the speed limit? Did you have Drugs on either one of you?
ReplyDeletesniff sniff sniff I smell a rat i'm just saying :D
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous, Before you cast the first stone let me ask you this . How many time do drive and use your phone or text while driving. How Many times do you speed down the streets of Chicago. How many times do you play your radio to load while driving. Now that this is all said are you the right person to be judging these riders. As a rider myself with a VERY quit bike i find that people dont look because they just dont see me , Is this my fault , I think not.
ReplyDeleteThere are too much motorcycle accidents occurred all around the world now-a-days! I think the most common cause of motorcycle accidents is a result of the motorcyclist’s negligence. In cases where the accident does not involve another vehicle, the failure of the motorcyclist to slow down when cornering or simply under-cornering as well as over braking in some instances.
