The crime occurred around 8:28 p.m., near the intersection of East Ohio and North St. Clair Streets - which is approximately 600 North St. Clair.
The victim was approached by four African-American men, one of them was carrying a Chicago Reader newspaper.
An iPhone and some sort of case, were stolen from the victim, said authorities.
Police said the thieves used the Chicago Reader newspaper in crime, but did not say how. I'm guessing the thieves were pickpockets.
One offender is approximately 140 pounds with curly black hair, and was last seen wearing a shiny black coat and big, square-shaped earrings.
A second suspect was described as six-feet-tall, wearing a blue sweatshirt.
Descriptions of the remaining offenders were not provided.
After the robbery, the crooks walked southbound on St. Clair, from Ohio Street.
Again, what were they doing in that neighborhood EXCEPT looking to rob someone. That area is pretty much taken up by the Northwestern Hospital, a few hotels, some eateries, a couple bars and high rises. If you see a group of ghetto thugs or any other suspicious person coming towards you, cross the fricking street, get out your cell phone and "act" like you're dialing 911, go into a building. PAY ATtENTION because these ghetto thugs are EVERYWHERE just waiting for you to drop your guard.
ReplyDeleteMost criminals rely on the element of surprise. If you stay aware of your surroundings, it makes it harder for them to victimize you.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing... people need to stop worrying about hurting someone's feelings. If someone looks suspicious, get away from them and call the cops. Better safe, than sorry.
