Police are looking for three crooks involved in a strong-arm robbery on Chicago’s North Side.
Around 4:25 a.m., three African-American suspects approached a male victim on the 800 block of West Aldine Avenue, near the intersection of Aldine and Dayton Street, in Lakeview.
Two of the offenders are male. The complainant wasn’t sure if the third suspect is a man or a woman.
The thieves stole a Coach wallet containing $250.00, said police.
One of the male offenders was described as six-feet-tall, 160 to 170 lbs, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white letters on it. The second male suspect was wearing a gray coat.
The third mugger, whose sexual identity has yet to be determined, was wearing a “black outer-garment”.
No arrests have been made.

"Crime never sleeps"....except when everyone else is working a regular job. Seems there's a lot of crime going on in this area, which means the police need to have a bigger presence.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice how crime has gone up in many areas where it wasn't that big of a deal, since they dispersed the projects throughout the city? Might have been a great idea if the ghetto thugs knew how to play nice in those neighborhoods. Now, it's a great idea gone totally wrong.
In my opinion, there is a serious crime issue in Lakeview, and it's basically being ignored.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, I used to live in Lakeview. Stayed there for 2 years. With the exception of a few odd neighbors, it was one of the safest neighborhoods in the city.
Now? Not so much.
There are many other crimes similar to this one. I suspect that the victim was in the area and trying to purchase sex when he was rolled by the gender bender's accomplices. These activities are exploding in the Lakeview are and are often not reported by the victim's and never covered by the media.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, your take on this crime suggest a possibility that never even crossed my mind. Interesting.
ReplyDeletewhile what Anonymous said may be a possibility I live a block away from where this hapenned and I differ in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteNight after night these ghetto youth are hanging out walking around all night. My neighbor, who is straight, got jumped by 2 of these youth. He was going home, nothing sinister about that.
So again, I guess while your scenerio does happen maybe I do not think that is the norm. These youth fight, yell, and just cause crap all night every night. It is not safe to be out at night.
It is not just the crime it is also the crap attitude and behavior. Just go away.
has anyone contacted the alderman? belmont and halsted is a hotbed of questionable activity. groups of troublemakers hangout there all night and drift into the dunkin donuts and more cause trouble.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in the neighborhood for 32 years and think that it is worse in some aspects. In the old days two gangs-Kings and Eagles-controlled the hood. They would break into your car and sell dope from certian buildings, but would not rob or mug people, because they lived in the area. They would also NOT tolerate the groups of ghetto thugs that hang around the Clark/Belmont area in the evenings. Ghetto thugs that I suspect come from elsewhere.

ReplyDeleteMaking an "ass-umption" that the person MAY have been "trying to purchase sex" is minimizing the crime. You don't know that and I question WHY you even thought that way. I didn't and doubt others reading this didn't either.
That area is becoming infested with Ghetto thugs looking for an easy score by mugging and robbing innocent people minding their own business. They DO NOT belong there and SHOULD not be there. They're simply preying on the residents. They follow the money like a shark smelling blood 10 miles away.
EVERYONE should be ringing Tom Tunney's phone off the hook about this increase of crime. The "loitering" law needs to be change and so does the "panhandling" law. This is what happens when laws become lax. Belmont & Sheffield & Belmont & Clark don't look like the North side anymore....
towanda,
ReplyDeleteI agree. :) Unfortunately, Tunney ran unopposed, which in his mind indicates he can ignore crime.
