Woman’s Purse Snatched in Uptown

A woman’s purse was stolen in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

The robbery occurred around 7:29 p.m. on the 4600 block of North Dover Street, near the intersection of Dover and West Wilson Avenue.

The woman told police she was sitting in her car when two men ran up to her and snatched her purse.

According to police dispatch, the victim did not give a description of the offenders, nor did she say which way the thieves ran.

  1. I would imagine she didn't give a description or say which direction they went because they have her address and these ghetto thugs in Uptown are vicious and love to retaliate. I'm curious how, if she was sitting in her car they got her purse. Was a weapon involved? Did she have the window open on a cold night? Did they open her car door? That area around Dover is such a nice area too. Lock your doors, keep your car windows closed and if you can drive away, do so. Better yet, run them over:)

That never crossed my mind. You might be on to something! I was blaming the lack of information on the 911 operators.

  3. I think, because of ALL the crime going on in Uptown of late, that these ghetto thugs are starting to instill fear in a lot of the residents. I don't even live in Uptown and I won't go there because of it. For me, the Wilson L doesn't even exist and EVERY time I am on the 151 going through those areas on Sheridan where there ar shoot outs like it's the OK corral, I wonder if something might happen. I can't imagine how that women must be feeling right now. She's got to be scared and on edge. I hope she's got all her "hatches buttoned down".

When you are dealing with monsters a little fear is a good thing. When a person doesn't give a damn about their own life, they won't think twice about taking yours. I think it was Bill Cosby who said, "Hurt people, hurt people."

Uptown is dealing with people who have nothing to live for and will willingly die over nonsense.
