Woman Robbed in Lakeview: Roscoe Avenue

January 3, 2010, a woman was robbed on the 700 block of West Roscoe Street. The robbery occurred around 10:37 p.m. near the intersection of Roscoe and North Elaine Place.

The offenders were described as two African-American men.

After the robbery, the thieves ran westbound on Roscoe towards Halsted Street.

Earlier that same evening, around 7:20 p.m., a citizen on the 1400 block of West Barry Avenue reported two suspicious men walking back and forth.

Geez, I don't think I'll leave my house anymore after sunset. This happened 2 blocks from my house and half way on my late night munchie route to the 7-11 on Halsted and Roscoe.

I did notice though they are brightening up the streets between Broadway and Halsted by using brighter bulbs. Perhaps this will help scatter some of these roaches who prey on those walking in the dark. I am not sure if these new lights are planned for more side streets within the neighborhood but they look good and hopefully we'll get more.

  2. And why didn't someone from that area call in "suspicious" people? If we are not going to be pro-active in our own safety, than we will not be safe. Eyes open, heads up, paying attention to our surroundings, knowing your neighborhood and calling 911, will help in keeping the preying animals out and us safe. I used to live on this block and crime wasn't an issue back than. These were probably the same ghetto thugs who were casing out the 1400 block of Barry and what happens? A citizen calls 911 and they move on...coming soon to your neck of the woods...At least that woman wasn't injured..that's the only good thing I can say about ALL THE CRIME being committed on the innocent people of our city. THEY KNOW THEY WON"T GET CAUGHT!

There was another murder up in your area on Magnolia and Montrose that happened this afternoon.
Two people shot, one dead the other suffering a wounded hand which was being reported by the Tribune guys.

  5. Lakefront I read about that. Very scary and extremely heartbreaking. Another person has lost their life for nothing.

I don't live in Uptown anymore. I left that neighbor months ago. Too many shootings. Too many thugs and thugettes.

  6. I live on that block and it's hard to tell who lives in the neighborhood and who doesn't. With that being said, it's not hard to tell when someone is up to no good or suspicious. Too bad I wasn't out that night. I call every time I see someone suspicious. It's better to be safe than sorry. With that in mind. I did notice a big brown van on Aldine and Broadway with several passengers in the back. VERY SUSPICIOUS I want to add. Just thought I'd share that with you in case anyone reading this sees it again.
