A female caller dialed 911 and told the operator she and another person were hiding in the basement of the St. Nicholas Cathedral School at 2200 West Rice Street in Chicago's Ukrainian Village.
The caller also said a janitor was attacked and struck on the head with an unidentified object. Reportedly, the custodian was injured during a scuffle with three African-American offenders.
A detailed description of the suspects, as well a motive for the confrontation, was not provided.
The janitor is in good condition and sustained a bump on the head, said police.
The injured school employee and his wife were taken to St. Mary's Hospital.
UPDATE: The catholic school janitor was robbed. He was struck on the head with a gun. Chicago Breaking News picked up this story, but failed to mention the robbery happened near or on school property.
Probably went in there to steal all the computers that help the CHILDREN with their EDUCATION and then were going to pawn them. I hope they catch these ghetto thugs. I'm hoping the victims got good looks at their ugly mugs!
