Woman Raped in Uptown

Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault in a north side Chicago neighborhood.

Around 2:17 a.m., a woman near 800 West Montrose Avenue was reportedly raped. The sexual assault occurred inside the woman's Uptown apartment.

Based on what the victim allegedly told 911, she accidentally left her door unlocked and a man entered her apartment and "raped her while she was sleeping".

A description of the offender is not available.

Unconfirmed reports indicate the victim was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital.

  1. If this is true..."accidentally left her door unlocked" than this is a shame but this sounds a little fishy to me. And WHO leaves their doors unlocked in Uptown? We live in a high rise in Edgewater on the 19th floor with doormen and security and WE lock our doors. This just seems "curious" to me. If it is TRUE, I hope they catch the evil person who did this!

  2. Towanda, like you, I questioned the validity of this story. But when I heard the victim was taken to the hospital and the cops had ordered an ET (Evidence Technician) I figured something terribly wrong happened in that apartment.

In the past, I have accidentally left my door unlocked. One time I even left the keys in the outside lock!!! :-(

Things happen. I hope that woman is okay.
