Several CTA passengers reported a robbery in progress on the Red Line.
The incident happened around 12:10 a.m. and occurred on a southbound CTA train at the Addison "L" station, 940 West Addison Street.
At 12:16 a.m., CTA officials announced the train with the alleged offender was being held at the Fullerton train station, 943 West Fullerton Avenue.
By the time that announcement was made, police dispatch received several calls reporting an African-American man with a gun on the train at Fullerton.
Police arrived at the Fullerton station around 12:23 a.m.
An officer at the scene said the suspect appeared to be mentally ill. The alleged offender was taken into custody. According to one source, a robbery never occurred and no weapon was found.

Seems the trains are ALWAYS in the news for crime. When will the CTA start protecting their passengers? Camera's in the trains like the buses would be nice.
