Thief Attempts 2nd Robbery at Edgewater 7-Eleven

At 5:53 a.m., the same man who robbed a north side 7-Eleven three days ago, attempted a second robbery at the same store.

When the suspect entered the Edgewater 7-Eleven at 1055 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, the clerk recognized him and immediately activated the store's silent hold-up alarm.

After the clerk told the would-be robber he recognized him from the previous robbery, the suspect fled the scene.

Even though the thief implied he had a gun, no weapon was seen and no proceeds were stolen from the store.

The offender is described as an African-American man with a dark complexion and "slight facial hair", 26 to 30-years-old, 5'8", and approximately 150 lbs.

He was last seen wearing a dark-colored skull cap (possibly black or dark blue) and a dark blue puffy coat with a hood.

The crook was last seen running westbound on Bryn Mawr Avenue, then southbound through an alley near North Winthrop Avenue.

  1. LOL! Only in Chicago. Kinda reminds me of the female cop in the cruiser that had the big smile on her face while I was going to work from Edgewater at about 6:00 a.m. about a year ago amd approached her. I think she thought I had a box of donuts but when I told her "she" had some problems "right about there" her face dropped and she looked absolutely dumbfounded. I'll never forget that morning.
