2 Taxi Cabs, 1 Car Stolen in Less Than 4 Hours

Carriage taxi cab number 6232 was stolen near the intersection of West Bryn Mawr and North Kimball Avenues. The auto-theft occurred around 2:30 a.m. in Chicago's North Park neighborhood.

According to police, the keys to the cab were on the floor of the vehicle.

At 6:34 a.m., Choice cab number 2614 was stolen from an alley at 6501 North Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood. The cabdriver left the car running and when he came back, it was gone.

The cab is gray and white, and was described as a "Crown Victoria model".

A car owner in the Belmont-Cragin neighborhood suffered the same fate, when a car thief took off in their 2010 Nissan Xterra.

The car was taken from the 5100 block of West George Street, around 6:37 p.m.

The stolen vehicle is dark gray and bears the license plate K912329. The car may be similar to the one in the photograph.

  1. Leave the keys to the vehicle in the car or "running" and you're asking for it to be stolen. Nice to think people are kind BUT the reality is, if you make it tempting for a thief, they'll take you up on it!
