This morning, around 7 a.m., 59-year-old Sergio Acevedo was on his way to the hospital, when he lost his balance and fell into the path of an oncoming CTA train.
Acevedo was pronounced dead on the scene. His body was removed from the CTA "L" tracks around 8 a.m.
The horrific accident occurred at the Polk Street "L" stop, which is located at 1713 W. Polk Street.
It is speculated that Acevedo may have been going to an appointment at Rush Medical Center, when he was hit and killed by a Pink Line CTA train.
