As stated in my initial report - which was posted at 12:51 a.m. - at 12:28 am, Chicago police officers announced they were forced to fire their weapons.

According to police dispatch, shots were heard on the 8900 block of South Mackinaw Ave., as well as the 8900 block of South Escanaba Ave., in Chicago's South Chicago neighborhood.
According to Chicago Breaking News, police shot a man on the 8900 block of South Escanaba Ave., after they witnessed him shooting at a group of men.
The suspect was shot in the leg and apprehended on the 8900 block of South Muskegon Avenue. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.
