CTA Passengers Say Faulty Steering Wheel Caused No. 6 Jackson Park Bus to Crash

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that before the No. 6 Jackson Park bus crashed into a tree, the driver was having such a hard time steering the wheel, a passenger had to help her.

Chicago Sun-Times:

The passenger "was trying as hard as she could to yank the steering wheel, and it wouldn't budge,'' said Britni Jones, 22, who was treated at Stroger Hospital for a sprained neck. Jones was sitting in the middle of the bus with her 1-year-old daughter when she "heard the passenger yell out. I looked forward, and all I saw was trees.''

Witnesses say after the crash, passengers were scrambling to get off the bus. Most of them jumped through emergency windows. They also said the bus driver was crying as she went around apologizing and checking on her passengers.

One passenger told the Sun-Times that she doesn’t think she will ever ride a CTA bus, again.
