Just in time for the cooler weather, when crime naturally declines, the Chicago police department has announced a new plan to combat the rampant crime on Chicago's streets.
Yes. Timing is everything.
It's being reported that 150 police officer's from the Chicago police department's crime suppression unit, are being reassigned to Chicago's most dangerous streets. The officers will be under the watchful eye of district commanders.
While I applaud the Chicago police department for taking steps to curb crime in Chicago, I question their timing. Why wasn't this plan put into action at the beginning of the summer; when crime rates jump off the charts? I'm sure any number of the countless shooting victims and overworked police officers in Chicago, would have appreciated the effort.
Somehow, I get the feeling that the natural drop in crime, due to cooler temperatures, is going to be passed off as a successful crime suppression sweep.
