8:11 p.m. -- After being terminated, a man on the CTA Blue Line threatened to kill himself.
The distraught passenger called his former boss, who had just fired him, and told her he was planning to jump off a bridge. However, based on the information provided, the man didn't say which bridge he was going to use to end his life.
The former employer told police the man called her from his cell phone, and told her he was at the Blue Line Jefferson Park train station (4917 N. Milwaukee Avenue), and was planning to commit suicide.
As of 8:50 p.m., there was no indication the police made contact with the man threatening suicide.
Over the last few days, I have noticed an alarming spike in suicide calls. Most of them seem to be coming from north side neighborhoods like Lakeview, Uptown, and Rogers Park.
