Two Chicago Police Officers Shot: 7700 South Seeley

Update: The two plain-clothes, police officers who were wounded by gunfire this morning, were attempting to serve a search warrant on a known gang member.

Although both officers were shot, no shots were returned. Jody Weis said, "This is a stark reminder of the dangers officers face every day. These offenders showed complete disregard for life, firing a gun at police officers while elderly residents were in the home."

12:13 am -- 2 Chicago police officers have been shot. Both officers were shot in the arm. According to an officer at Christ Medical Center, the officers are in "great" condition.

The shootings occurred at an address near 7700 South Seeley.

A shooter was cornered at 7701 S Hoyne. Police surrounded the home. There were several people inside, including two elderly people.

At 12:29 am, police were able to enter the home at 7701 S. Hoyne. 4 to 5 people were taken into custody.

According to Chicago Breaking News, “Officer Hector Alfaro could not confirm police scanner accounts of two officers wounded by gunfire.” However, I distinctly heard an officer at Christ Medical Center say that both officers were shot in the arm, and they are in “great” condition.

When I started working this story, the facts were confusing. Earlier reports indicated that one officer was shot in the stomach and the other in the arm.

  2. I am praying that once the cooler weather kicks in, the violence will taper off. This is getting to be too much to handle. The criminals in Chicago are getting bolder by the second. God bless our officers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. This community is broken are won't be fixed in the next fifty years. If the cops would have had the opportunity to return fire and would have shot these scum bags their community would have been on the news telling us the cops over reacted. Until they come together and point out the bad guys and fight for their right to live in peace their lost.
