Man Beaten and Robbed in Chicago's Edgewater Neighborhood

3:19 am -- A Yellow cabdriver called police after an injured man got into his cab at the intersection of Berwyn and Broadway (this location was given by the cabdriver), in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

The man, who was bleeding, told the cabdriver he had been robbed.

A subsequent report from officers on the scene, indicated that the cabdriver flagged them down in the area of Foster and Broadway, which borders Chicago's Uptown community.

The attacker is described as an African-American male, approximately 25-years-old, 6-feet-tall, with a slim build. He was last seen headed northbound on Broadway.

NOTE: This assailant's description is very similar to the man who stabbed a woman at Berwyn and Kenmore, on September 1, 2010, around 2:40 am.

The Edgewater community may be looking at a dangerous, serial offender.

Oh yeah -- also, pretty much every other crime committed in Edgewater this summer.

  2. Edgewater Resident, both men are African-American, tall and thin. Both attacks occurred around the same time. In fact, a 3rd report of a man with a weapon at the Thorndale, Red Line station, also occurred around the same time frame.

To me, this sounds like the same person. He has a pattern and a schedule. I am convinced we will see similar crimes, around the same time, until he is caught.

And if he isn't caught, soon; someone is really going to get hurt.
