At 10:49 a.m., a citizen reported a battery in progress on Chicago's south side.

The witness said 3 African-American men, one of whom had twists in his hair, and was wearing a black hoodie and a red jacket, were attacking a male victim.

According to police, the motive for the assault was robbery.

At 10:52 a.m. the witness called 911 back, and reported that the men were now chasing the victim through a nearby grocery store. Which was later identified as Rainbow Foods, located at 7100 S. Ashland in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

At 10:55 a.m., a 3rd 911 call indicated the victim had been chased into the streets by his attackers, and his foot was run over by a passing car. The victim also sustained a head injury.

The victim was taken to Holy Cross Hospital. His condition is unknown.
