Shooting at 1600 N. Kedvale

A chaotic and extremely dangerous scene unfolded, when a man fired shots right in front of Chicago police officers.

At least one person was shot, when a male Hispanic, with long black hair, wearing an over-sized, black shirt, opened fire in the presence of officers. After shots were fired, an officer on the scene screamed, “Shots fired! Get on the ground!”, as he attempted to apprehend three suspects. The three detainees were later determined to be “victims”, not offenders.

The male shooter was last seen walking westbound. Police did a yard-by-yard search for the suspect, and requested the assistance of a police helicopter with an infrared/heat camera.

A 20-year-old female Hispanic, was shot in the leg. She was taken to Stroger Hospital in stable condition.

At 11:45 pm, nearly 20 minutes after shots were fired at 1600 N. Kedvale, 911 received a call that a Hispanic male, armed with a gun, and dressed in a dark green t-shirt, was spotted at 1640 N. Kedvale.
