Man Shot in the Back: 500 West 61st Street
10:15 pm -- A 24-year-old African-American man was shot in the back, on the 500 block of West 61st Street. The victim said he was shot by a black man, dressed in all black.
According to witnesses, the gunman fled in a cherry-red Cutlass, Berretta, or Thunderbird. There were at least three additional occupants in the car. The vehicle went westbound, toward 61st and Wallace.
No word on the victim's condition, but he was able to speak with an officer on the scene. He was taken to Christ Hospital.
Officers had to request an additional ambulance to assist the shooting victim's family member, who fainted at the scene.
