Short punk snatches purse in Rogers Park

Thursday evening, police were hunting for a mugger in Rogers Park.

Around 8:39 p.m., a 911 caller reported a woman screaming for help on the 7500 block of North Greenview Avenue.

A subsequent report indicted the victim was robbed in an alley north of Jarvis Avenue; possibly, the alley between Jarvis and Fargo.

The thief was described as a short, black male wearing a black coat, a black stocking cap with a bill, and tan or beige boats.

According to authorities, the crook - who snatched a black and white handbag containing the victim’s asthma inhaler - was last seen running westbound through the alley where the robbery occurred.

Police, in an effort to apprehend the suspect, stopped a southbound CTA Red Line train at the Jarvis station, around 8:48 p.m.

No one on the train matched the offender’s description, said officials.

At the time of this report, the pint-sized bandit was still on the loose.

  1. I'll bet she was just taking out the trash or buying weed. Maybe she just lost the key to the front door. Or maybe it's easier to walk down the alley because they're cleared of snow better than the sidewalks. Who knows?
