Anonymous email: "This firm (Jacoby & Meyers) which merged with Macey Bankruptcy in Chicago, is apparently no longer in existence... leaving clients in disarray.
It appears they have filed for bankruptcy or receivership and no one is talking.
It would seem that a bankruptcy firm going bankrupt is an oxymoron.
There was a firm by the name of Legal Helpers, which was affiliated with this firm that collected funds from clients as retainer fees, but failed to perform minimal to no legal work. Legal Helpers has been sued throughout the years for engaging in unethical practices."
Chicago News Report contacted Jacoby & Meyers via an online chat session. Here's what a representative had to say:
Client Representative: Hello, thanks for contacting Jacoby & Meyers Law Offices. I am a Client Representative, may I have your first and last name?
Visitor: Tim Fitz. Did you file for bankruptcy?
Client Representative: Hello?
Visitor: Hello. Did your firm file for bankruptcy?
Client Representative: Jacoby and Meyers did have an office with the Macey Firm that helped people with bankruptcy.
Client Representative: That office has closed.
Visitor: When did it close?
Client Representative: It has been about two or three weeks ago. Please call us @ 800 411-4529. You will be able to speak to a representative.
