According to authorities, 18-year-old Quejuan Henley, who often spells his first name, "Que Juan," was part of a violent, black mob who harassed, frightened, and robbed citizens during the 2013 July 4th fireworks show on Chicago's lakefront.
Citing the Chicago Tribune, Henley, who stands about 6'4" and weighs a whopping 225 pounds, attacked a defenseless woman in an underpass near West Division Street and North Lake Shore Drive, around 9:40 p.m.
The towering coward wrenched a cell phone from the victim's hand and fled the scene... when the victim gave chase, an accomplice tripped the victim, causing the victim to injure her knee and wrist, said the Tribune.
At approximately 9:49 p.m., Henley - with apparently more brawn than brains - was arrested on the 1200 block of North Lake Shore Drive.
Information obtained by Chicago News Report indicates Henley is an overgrown high school student at Muchin College Prep, a Noble Network of charter schools, once praised by Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
While Emanuel once called the learning institution a model for the city, Henley's behavior at school has been anything but exemplary.
Information taken from the accused mugger's Facebook page suggests Henley has issues with authority, and has repeatedly disrespected his teachers and fellow classmates.
On March 8, 2012, Henley was accused of sleeping in class and being disruptive during Math.
Earlier that same year, Henley swore at a teacher after being informed he was receiving a demerit for breaking a school rule.
"That's some bullshit," said Henley, according to the school report.
From January 2012 to March 2012, the alleged July 4th robber reportedly fell asleep in class eight times.
And people wonder why the city is closing down schools in black neighborhoods.

He attended Muchin a well put together school. The school is located in downtown Chicago, not the GHETTO. Just cause someone is black, it doesn't make them ghetto. These post are killing me. The staff and parents of students at Muchin College Prep witnessed over 80% of its founding class graduate JUNE 7, 2013, including Que Juan, which is well over the small 63% graduation rate of CPS. And I myself am black and will be attending a four year university on a full tuition based scholarship. How many of you with the racist comments can say that you too were given the opportunity that most of the students at Muchin College Prep were? You guys cannot put the school in a category because of one student. There are a lot of well known schools that have students that have committed crimes. There is no doubt that top selective enrollment schools have students that have been caught for robbery or battery. I am not saying the action of Que Juan is not something that should be punished. There are many people that would wish to attend Muchin College Prep. I have just graduated on June 7, and I can proudly say I am attending one of the top liberal schools in New York because Muchin College Prep has teachers, deans, and a Principle that wants everyone to succeed. I am also confidently say that our next graduating class will do so well that jaws are going to drop. So please, do not talk bad about the school for the act of one person.

I attend Muchin College Prep, and it is a wonderful place where violence and hatred do not enter the doorways, unlike these slanderous comments. Do not make generalizations about a school that will accept any student and give most of them a bright future. When you are willing to accept anyone, not everyone will be amazing. The teachers are caring, the administration even more so, so please do not let ignorance of the actual workings of the school blind your judgment. Our mayor has a VERY good reason to support us, as our students are exceptional. These poor student would fail and commit savagery anywhere he would have gone.

ReplyDeleteIt's in the heart of the loop where DOZENS of students from the south,east, north, and west side attend. Many students are attending Muchin and receiving AP classes as well as honors. He is ONE individual who screwed up, but it doesn't give anyone the right to immediately assume Muchin is from a "black neighborhood and it graduates everyone". It's unfourntante that 4 years of a college prep education has been ignored, but how can one enforce good behavior into a student? He made his decision and will pay for it. However, it is extremely offensive to assume that other students from Muchin will do the same.

Muchin is not only filled with African American students. It is also filled with Hispanic, Asian, and Caucasian students. He is one student who has made a mistake, but everyone has made mistake during their teenage years whether it was a big or small mistake. People who make racist comments are just as ignorant as the so called "nigs" they are slandering. Muchin is giving the students from all neighborhoods a chance to receive a good education with many opportunities. It also does not just let anyone pass or get by. Since my freshman orientation at Muchin, the staff has talked about how important it is to be noble. The majority of students at Muchin have goals, dreams, and the ability to reach their goals. It's people like all of you that make me ashamed to be white. To be making comments like this, about at school you know nothing about, is pure ignorance. I don't justify Quejuan's actions; however, I will step up to say Muchin is an amazing school. What Quejuan did was not the school's fault. Muchin cannot control the decisions any student makes outside of its doors. If you blame the school for his decisions, then what about white men who murder? Why isn't anybody blaming their high school? It's because you all are looking for a reason to smack talk Muchin. You're angry because local schools are being closed. Some of us may have had other problems with our school, but one thing that is a guarantee from MCP is an awesome education that will beyond prepare a person for college. The first graduating class at MCP was recently held, and 100% of the senior class received acceptance letters from 4-year universities, with academic scholarships! The average ACT score for CPS is a 17. What's Muchin's average ACT score? 21. Do not try to slander the school when you know nothing about the education system, where it's located, or the students. Que'Juan is a good guy who made a bad mistake, and in turn this mistake will turn into a life lesson. We never hire anyone who attended Muchin because we have learned they are violent ghetto criminal types and other employees don't want them around. One person cannot possibly reflect upon the entirity of the school. He was well educated. He just made a mistake. I attended elementary school with him and he was never a bead person. He was a proud graduate and freedom may have messed him up. Don't judge him just because he is a "Black" person. Be proud that he made it through school and pray that he won't make another mistake like this.

In the ghetto and dominated by blacks? i think not. Secondly, my school has only been in the Tribune for good things and the excellence that we have performed. Look us up and get all of your facts right before you try to disrespect the school. This young man made a mistake and this has nothing to do with the school he went to neither does it have to do with the color of his skin. It has alot to do with what type of character he is and what he was raised on, everyone makes mistakes. I attended Muchin College Prep but didn't graduate from there. Does that mean I screwed up my life because I went to a ghetto public school!? no it doesn't. I still got into my top 4 year college choice but that is because I made it happen and I probably wouldn't have been able to get as far as I did if it wasn't for Muchin.
While he was in school he wasn't getting into trouble because Muchin made sure he stayed off the streets. That was always something they stressed, our safety. They didn't want us to be a statistic, they wanted us to be the ones to make a difference. They instilled that in our heads but it is up to the student to choose the path they want to take in life.
He already graduated!!
Why punish the school for his mistakes.
They weren't going to hold his hand forever.

The school helps every child that comes in so that they can graduate to become successful adults. Why in a world of equality must race be the prime issue of a mugging? I would feel that the concern for the victim would be higher versus they race of a mugger. How far in time must we go for disgusting comments towards race to stop. When will people realize black, white, Asians, Latinos all share the same body parts and the same heart that pounds everyday in order to get through this daily game of life. Although some individuals on this site seem to be less then human for they do not acquire a soul nor any speck of open minded thinking. Think of the way the world is set up and people expect black individuals to fails. ReplyDeleteI'm a parent of MCP so let me say this especially to that one comparing our school to LTHS or New Trier shame on you if you are an educator and more shame on you if you are a parent , double shame on you if you are a tax payer into any of those 2 schools I FIRST HAND can start naming students that fall asleep in class and are in detention EVERY DAY that abuse of drugs,students that aren't going to college period,students of top lawyers,dentist and judges from the LaGrange area that steal,act like animals during a fire drill LETS not go there and put everyone to shame !! Nobody raised a perfect child yet everyone is talking about one person's mistake.Some people want to infer to the fact that Muchin makes criminals.Well that isn't true because Muchin is a very good school and I'm happy to say that I will be graduating soon and Quejuan already graduated due to Muchin and his intellect despite his actions while attending Muchin.
