Masked mugger robs man in Lakeview

A masked robber mugged a man in Chicago's North Side Lakeview neighborhood, said police.

According to various reports, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a man was robbed at the intersection of North Ashland and West Cornelia Avenues.

After the robbery, the victim went to the CITGO gas station at 3600 North Ashland and asked for help.

The robber, whose race was never identified, is approximately 5'10" and he was last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt.

Investigators said the thief fled the scene eastbound on Cornelia Avenue in an unspecified vehicle.

The robber stole the victim's wallet and car keys, said police.

  1. Lake View is a very dangerous neighborhood. South of Lawrence Avenue, it is all endless ghetto all the way down to the Cook/Will County border, and eastward nonstop through Gary, Indiana.
