Starting around 7:50 p.m., authorities were notified of an alleged brawl on the corner of North Halsted Street and West Waveland Avenue.
According to police dispatch, 10 people were fighting and one brawler was armed with a stick.
Approximately 10 minutes later, another emergency call indicated there was a "huge fight" at Halsted and Waveland and "people were running everywhere."
At 8:28 p.m., a third 911 caller reported a man with a knife outside the Whole Foods at 3640 North Halsted Street.
Citing police dispatch, the complainant said the offender was randomly attacking people on the street.
Around 8:34 p.m., law enforcement officials suggested the disturbances were tied to a fight at the Center on Halsted, 3656 North Halsted Street, which eventually spilled into the streets.
At the time of this report, it was unclear if any arrests were made.
NOTE: On April 2, 2013, someone reportedly tried to stab someone, or threatened to stab someone, on the 3600 block of North Halsted Street.

ReplyDeleteI may have seen the woman who threatened to stab people on the April 2 incident. She was standing outside of the Whole Foods entrance and talking out loud about stabbing people but I did not see a knife and she was clearly mentally ill and probably homeless and most people ignored her.

This would allow them to identify and ban the instigators who consistently start trouble while protecting those other youth who are just hanging out peacefully.
