VIDEO: CTA Blue Line train catches fire, bursts into flames

A CTA Blue Line train ignited a fire when it struck a tire on tracks at a Near West Side station... and Chicago News Report has the footage!

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. near the Illinois Medical District station at 430 South Damen Avenue.

Although eyewitnesses claim there was a homeless man trapped inside the burning train, the media hasn't mentioned any injuries.

Bystanders said the train operator should have seen the tire on tracks... and therefore, deserves to be suspended or fired.

  3. Well its a good thing they raised the rates for the O'Hare commuters to cover this "world class" lawsuit in the makings.

  4. If bystanders saw the tire, then why didn't they report it. They have no clue what it takes to operate a train. The operator has several things that they have to monitor while in operation.

  6. The homeless guy was probably fast asleep on those new custom designed bum-sleeper seats they've brought in by the hundreds. He was probably dreaming of BBQ and stealin' pic-a-nick baskets while the black smoke enveloped him and replaced his stink with something slightly better.
