Email: Eyewitness account of Saturday's Streeterville neighborhood mob action

Here's what a Chicago News Report reader said about the Saturday, September 22, 2012, mob disturbance in the downtown Streeterville neighborhood.

I saw your article and yes it carried East to the corner of Pearson and DeWitt last night at 7pm.

I phoned 911 as about 50 people gathered in the  tennis courts in the park (Lake Shore Park) yelling and screaming and fighting.

An officer arrived in about 2 minutes and the group then sprinted East towards Lake Shore Drive. The officer pursued them on foot.

Several of us were in the park walking our dogs at the time this happened.

Fully agree the Mayor needs to wake up and give this more attention, especially since he was just here this past weekend in his black SUV walking around during the day.

I do not believe our police commissioner is any more effective than the prior one who was removed.

  1. And this was not aired on the local news. Unreal! Does anyone know if the fights were being targeted against whites? Just curious.

  2. These are "just transient youth". Just hand over your "entitled" $$ (I mean you didn't work for it or anything as it was "handed" to you or you were born with it flying out of your smooth pink butt), then get over it.

There are actually self-loathing White men (well, um.....) in Flakeview, Edgewater and Uptown that believe the above (but they "live in a highrise because they're safe"). True quote from a liberal hypersexual in Edgewater. Oh, a gay Masters in Humanities (wannabe movie star) in Hyde Park believes this too. Try harder.

  3. The black mobs are still running amuck, are they? With no coverage by the mainstream media, as is typical. It doesn't exist if it's not widely known, apart from the actual victims, that is. One real problem is that all those arrested get out immediately and end up beating the rap. Maybe if they were held in jail longer that might take some of the luster out of beating up white visitors to Chicago. The politicians are too chicken to try to push for that, though.

  4. My wife & I have used the Red Line from Roosevelt to Monroe the last two weekends to go shopping. Each time on our trip home, we have been on trains with loud, volatile youths heading back to the south side. It's alarming that we can't feel safe in the most populated areas that are money makers in terms of tourism.

  5. Conceal carry would change some of these savage's attitudes.

  6. @9:42AM, Conceal and Carry probaly wouldn't change anything becasue these flash mobbings are happening all over the country, even in places that allows CC. Check out violentflashmobs.com to see what I mean.

    1. Wrong!!! Flash mobs might continue UNTIL they are unlucky enough to pick on the wrong person packing. And, at least u can protect urself and family.

Thanks for the link, but those are only the reported ones that made the news. This is happening on most Red Line trains EVERY weekend in Chicago, but not making the news since people are afraid to report it and it has become a fact of life.

  8. Disgusting. I think we're almost at number one, if not there already, with the amount of flash mobbing that goes on. Quick story: I was in LA about a month ago and was staying at a nice hotel. People in the hotel were very nice, very international, and very civilized. On the last day that I was there, a bunch of blacks started checking in. The whole atmosphere changed immediately. I'm not a racist, but you had to be dead to not notice the difference before they arrived. They were talking loudly and cussing. It was embarrasung how they were carrying on. A stranger came up to me and told me she couldn't believe how badly they were acting. She overheard that a lot of them arrived from Chicago. Little did she know that i was there. i'm assuming the black people were there for some sort of convention. It was nice to take a break from seeing so many and then all of a sudden they appeared. It's like Chicago followed me. My question is why can't they act in a civilized manner. Is it because they feel entitled? I'm at a loss with these people. I can't relate to their culture or whatever you want to call it.

  9. @2:12, So you don't think people in other cities are also under reporting these incidents? I think the flashmob problem is a national issue and should be addressed by the Obama and basically the government. Philly is even having it worse with these flash mobs and they're even happening in some suburbs. I actually live in River North, right off Michigan Ave and I'm outside all the time and all over this city but have never witness any of the flashmobs. I've actually never witnessed any crime or violent incident in this city. The only minor crime I've witnessed was when a group of young, ignorant, criminals threw a plastic botttle down at people that were sitting in the dog park at trump tower and I called the cops but it turned out to be an empty bottle.

Oh yeah, and someone tried breaking into the trunk of my car when I lived in the south loop and messed the lock up pretty bad. I was pissed and wanted to blow that person's head off but I do realize crap like that happens everywhere.

  10. I suggest we stop calling these flash mobs. Race riots is more appropriate.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ^ that's exactly what they are. Just a more PC way of saying race riots.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Obama will make public statements supporting his "son" Trayvon and friend Gates. But he won't say a thing about these black race riots, even though they're much more extensive. It's a nationwide occurrence and deliberately underreported. Blacks make their own reputation, as the commentator at 2:57 pm noted. Almost all problems of urban living are pretty much attributable to blacks.

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^ Completely true. As a matter of fact, the main reason most whites choose to live in suburbs is because they want to get away from blacks and their ignorance. This causes expenses to go up, as well as the carbon footprint, because people are having to live in far away suburbs just to be able to live in peace and not have to put up with blacks and their horrible negative behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You're right on the money! I live in the suburbs and could not imagine living amongst so many blacks, at least like the ones that act uncivally. Unfortunately, in the past couple of years there's been more and more stragglers in the suburbs due to section 8. They look so out of place. I'm sure they don't want to be there any more than we want them there. I believe we're not the only (segregated) city setup in such a way. West LA is lovely and you don't see any thugs walking around. They're there, but they're in their own neighborhoods. Plus, I think the police handle it a little differently. They don't put up with flashmobbers harrasing people on Rodeo Drive like they've been doing on Michigan Ave and other touristy and predominantly white areas. Call my statement ignorant, call it ignorant. I'm just merely stating the facts.

    Dog/Cat?

    Lake Michigan/Pacific Ocean?

  16. The economy will crash soon things will get a lot worse when all hell breaks loose.

The mainstream media(the talking heads) don't have a clue. Uncle Bens QE 20 will be tossing money out of the chemtrail planes at that time money will only be good for toilet paper. Start buying guns and food.

  17. @11:34, you vs. most ppl on here!

    no sense making ignorant fool/thoughtful.

  18. ^ You still think you've all moved to "Hollywood". Watch this crash as the other poster mentioned. Most have "adjusted" elsewhere. Chicago is gonna fall.........HARD!!!

  20. @3:31, what kind of drugs are you on? That comment made no sense at all. And how is Chicago going to fall? Btw,just the other day the U.S Census reported that, in the last decade, Chicago's downtown gained more residents than any other downtown in the country. It gained 48,000 new residents and the surrounding areas are also growing. The only parts that are going to fall have already fallen. Englewood, Austin and the other 6 or seven hell hole hoods can't fall any further. Richard C. Longworth was a Tribune reporter who in 1980 wrote an obituary for Chicago entitled “City on the Brink".He predicted there was no reason to think Chicago would ever turn around but by the 90s he had to eat his words. Bitter, clueless and envious know nothings have been predicting the demise of this great city for decades but it only comes back stronger. Your predictions are nothing but wishes borne out of envy. I say keep wishing!

  21. ^ When the police finally get the Gold Coast and Lakeview under control again, then I will think about moving back. But for now, I have left Chicago (and Illinois) and live somewhere with better weather and a better cost of living.

    1. Just curious - did you go to the west coast? I'm seriously contemplating to get the heck out of IL. I'm originally from Chicago and I'm just sick of the politics, crime and just Chicago in general. I understand other big cities have similar problems, but I wouldn't mind escaping the dreadful winters. Winters and crime make it just that more depressing.

  22. Managed clothing retailers @ Clark & Diversey, the Loop, & Water Tower. Most problems back then were the panhandlers & occasional shoplifters. Can't imagine dealing w/ the flash mobs....and can't get why the CPD doesn't come in & immediately bust them up & haul them off ? Retail areas are private property that stores pay rent for....they have the legal right to have troublemakers, thieves, etc removed or arrested. CPD was no nonsense back then...what the heck is the problem? Do agree the CHA teardowns & vouchers bring certain thug criminal mentality into what used to be better / safer areas. How much more has to keep going on for action / major sweeps to take hold? Citizen groups? Aldermen? Protests? Vigilantes? Charles Bronson types? CCW would @ least even the stakes for those who stand for something in trying to rid their areas of this element. It's an issue of quality of life & the "thug types" who are out to destroy that need to get and face consequences. No tolerance.

  23. I have to really give Chicago police respect for the fine job of mob control on Saturday night 9/29. Once again, a repeat performance of mobs. It appeared that hundreds of our amoral feral youth were roaming Michigan Ave. and ended up in front of McDonalds, State & Chicago. At 7:30 pm a brave officer on horseback rode on the sidewalk and dispersed the mob. What a sight! The crowd ran... screaming and laughing. They went west and south on State Street & Chicago, darting between peeping cars. Someone could get seriously injured, and trampled in the mob stampede. Thanks officers for the fine courageous job. I now see the benefit of police officers on bikes and horses. They get right up on the sidewalk with the mob.

  24. ^ another mob occurrence this past Saturday (9/29)? Is this like a weekly occurrence? I have no regrets about not going to the city. I used to be there all the time and even considered moving there. Thank goodness it never came to fruition. The city is too much of a jungle. AND it seems it doesn't matter where you live these days (Gold Coast, Streeterville, Lincoln Park, Lakeview). There all being affected by these wild thugs.

  25. Blacks have been elevated to Holy status by liberal whites, you cannot criticize them, reprimand them, only praise them, no matter what they do, say, or act like.
They are above criticism now, and if you think otherwise you are cast out from the chosen whites of Chicago.

    1. Thanks for replying. I heard Austin is a great city. Seriously no income taxes?! That must be nice. Looks like you made a good choice with your move. Enjoy Austin. It already feels like winter over here. It made it to 48 today. Winter like weather mixed in with some flash mobbing and inflated taxes are things I will not miss once I move. Good luck with everything. Hopefully I'll be out of here soon.

  27. Austin, TX is a fine city as Texas is an excellent state. Just leave behind the liberal mentality and policies that are destroying Chicago and everything will be fine.

  28. Tennessee has no state income taxes either, however stick to Nashville or East Tennessee; Memphis is becoming a cesspool.

I miss Nashville on a daily basis. Vanderbilt University is wonderful, and it draws a nice plethora of educated people, who behave themselves regardless of their skin color. If you can live in Williamson County, you'll love the value for your money when it comes to homes. And property taxes are low.

East Tennessee with the Great Smokey Mountains is just gorgeous. You can make an easy drive over to the Carolina coasts.

As an added bonus, Tennessee is conceal carry.
