Rogers Park robbery leaves victim ‘shook up’

A Rogers Park neighborhood robbery left the victim so distraught, she could barely tell authorities what happened, said police.

Around 10:09 p.m., a white female was robbed at knifepoint on the 1100 block of West Farwell Avenue, near Sheridan and Farwell, on the city’s Far North Side. 

Two offenders, one of them armed with what police described as a “kitchen knife”, stole the woman’s purse.

The mugger holding the weapon was described as a black male wearing glasses and a light-colored shirt. He has very dark skin and he is approximately 5’8” to 6-feet-tall.

Citing police communications, because the victim was so “shaken” by the experience, initially, there was some confusion regarding the second offender’s description. At one point, the second mugger was described as a white male, but police later said the second suspect is also black. 

Both crooks are believed to be in their late 30s or early 40s, said police.

After the robbery, an eyewitness saw the thieves rummaging through the victim’s purse in an alley east of Sheridan Road and about a block north of Pratt Boulevard.

As of 11 p.m., the muggers were still at large.
