Everyday, 911 receives a multitude of calls from North Side residents regarding suspicious men.
Like it or not, most of the men being reported are African American.
Case in point: Today, around 3:45 p.m., a concerned citizen on the 1500 block of West Birchwood Avenue in Rogers Park reported two "suspicious black men" claiming to work for ComEd.
Police interviewed the men and determined they actually work for the company.
Legal and moral issues aside... would it be more advantageous if companies restricted black solicitors to predominately black neighborhoods?
It's illegal and you're not going to find a lot of white people to do these kind of jobs. In fact these jobs are often listed on craigslist, and careerbuilder as something else then what it is on your second interview.
ReplyDeleteI once interviewed for a company on 145-47th and Cicero that claimed to be AT&T. They advertised themselves as being customer service in an office setting.
First interview went well and then second interview which was group interview was a four hour interview in which this black guy with a rental threw keys on the table and said the car was his, with a photo shopped picture of him and the Soprano's cast. And yes he talked about the almighty pyriamd.
So the white people start leaving. Note I feel like I had did something wrong and might of read the wrong job description. I ended up leaving an hour and half into it.
Needless to say I was tricked into two more fake interviews for door to door sales but yeah now I am very careful when applying and researching the company and address before I go.
Also want to add we have two black male door to door book salesman get on the Pace Cicero bus. Not sure if they work in the same building but they block up the exits with there material. They actually bring in handtrucks with their goods loaded on it.
ReplyDeleteThey are known to fold up seats and place their good there so you have white people who do not want to say anything standing well they sit and talk about the bears.
The older guy actually chased away a woman who was complaining I guess they pass some money to the pace driver.
The younger guy flirts with anything moving well stretching out his legs on the seats on a full bus well commenting he'd roll over peoples feet if they don't move

ReplyDeleteDoor-to-Door sales were over with in 1962 in Detroit. Telemarketing by them and jews was over with there in 1972.

Does Uptown or Chicago have internet yet? Maybe this marketing technique is still good for people that can't read or write. Just sayin'......

When I demanded that one leave my property, the spook had the nerve to ask "Why?"
I showed him my gun and I guess he understood that was enough reason because he left.

Long hair and tattoos ok" and they took us to all these ghetto neighborhoods to sell junk like cheap screwdriver sets and fake Disney books, they were called Ds-Max. We continually had the cops called on us and kicked out and the fuckwad trainer said that I "had no ambition" when I turned down the job at the end of the shift, I would have left immediately but they took us far way from our cars for the day's shady sales.
