Rogers Park: Gunshots, shootings reported on Ashland Ave.

If you thought you heard gunshots in Rogers Park this evening, it wasn’t your imagination.

Starting around 8:45 p.m., there were multiple reports of shots fired near the intersections of Ashland and Sherwin, and Ashland and Jarvis.

At 8:48 p.m., an officer near Ashland and Sherwin also reported gunfire.

One eyewitness account indicated a black or dark-colored “Suburban”, along with a small white car, were seen near Ashland and Sherwin at the time of the shooting.

Another tipster said the shooter fled the scene in a dark green GMC or Ford SUV.

The shooter was described as a male black, about 5’7”, wearing a “skull cap”.

As of 10:33 p.m., no injuries or property damage was reported.

  1. Everyblock no longer links to CNR but they sure get the latest happenings in RP from CNR and then post it on Everyblock, they just don't use the name of CNR just "another site". Maybe Phoebe can put on her wonder woman outfit and be a one person crime fighting machine and clean up RP....nah

  2. It seems like almost everyone on the EB blog is on something. Even when they post about violent crimes its like they have a Paxil induced smile on their face and just sort of shrug their shoulders like "oh well, life in the big city". At least they rescue animals, which I care about more than people by the way. Im actually going to attend the next Rogers Park caps meeting to thank the police and apologize for all the dumb white liberals that film them doing their job and edit the film in an attempt to race bait and ruin police officers lives.

  3. EB will support anything blacks youths do because they are so "disadvantaged" if they came up with a new art form that involved running around CTA trains flinging poop at people they would smile and praise their artistic merit.

  4. EB - = Enablers of Black (criminals)February 2, 2012 at 10:17 AM

I think the bottom line with EveryBlock is, they insist that, "race doesn't matter."

I wish that was true, but unfortunately, it isn't. The vast, vast majority of violent, personal cimes in Chicago are committed by one race.

Until that one race learns to control its youth, act as parents, and stop having such astronomically high teen pregnancy and high school drop out rates, the cycle will continue.

It starts at the top with leadership, those who are community "leaders" need to emphasize the values that we know will lead to personal and professional success, and also be willing to call out those who support and are ok with the behavior that's ruining not just their communities, but others. And the jerks at EB need to understand that their viewpoints and aggression towards those who do point out the failings of the black underclass, simply contributes to the problem.

They are classic deniers and enablers, and would rather shout and scream racism at successful people who call out the criminals, than do what's correct and ostracize those dregs of black society.

PS - Yesterday Phoebe put up a report about a shooting in the morning, and asked if anybody had details. I asked a friend who is a northside cop about it, he said the suspects are black. I created a handle (a harmless sounding one, not this handle) on there and posted, "Details - suspected shooters are black males, estimated around 20 years old."

Not only did my comment never see light of day on that blog, within 20 minutes of trying to post it, I received a nasty email that my handle was disabled, my IP recorded & will be reported to CPD, and my IP banned from further posting there.

How on earth is institutional denial productive??

  5. Yes thats classic EB. It also goes on on Huff Post as well. Unfortunitely the moderators only believe in free speech when it suits them.

  6. The main problem with EB is the nigger moderators, whenever a nigger is given even the slightest amount of authority they go powermad with it and overstep the boundaries of their authority.
Niggers shouldn't be in charge of anything, ever.

LOL @ 10:17am: "I received a nasty email that my handle was disabled, my IP recorded & will be reported to CPD, and my IP banned from further posting there."

That sounds EXACTLY like the sort of "crime" EBers believe the police should be involved with. Lordy be.

  8. The police won't even do anything about shithead niggers chasing elderly people up and down Broadway in Edgewater, why would they arrest an internet troll?
When the revolution comes, the Phoebes of the world will be first up against the wall.

  9. RE: reporting an internet comment to the police -

I couldn't agree more with all of you, why on EARTH did Phoebe & her cohorts even imagine that CPD would care.

Even so, what law was being violated? I don't think you can call that harassment, in even the loosest sense of the word. Just like when they had their little flame war on there last year (it was either EB or UptownUpdate, CNR had a nice little article about it in Nov/Dec), and the mods threatened to report to the police any poster who used the term, "STFU," among other egregious “violations.”

C'mon, people. Grow up, act like adults, be responsible, and don't censor out points of view that aren't exactly in line with yours. And for the love of all things holy, don't waste the time of the police by reporting internet comments. Those people are a joke, and are as big a problem as the schfartzes shooting up the south, west, and now certain parts of northside Chicago.

  10. Trust me the next caps meeting Ill put these censoring mothers on blast right to their faces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then thank the police for all their hard work.

  11. This is definitely a crazy world in which we live. Can we honestly receive a faulty product and then blame the product for being faulty. That's exactly what happens when we as a society blind ourselves to root causes. As an African American man it pains me to see people being oppressed and denied, expected not to react in a way that exemplifies being denied. Long ago societies' systems created the stage for these horrendous marks on our society to exist.
