Reports: Gun pulled in Jewel's parking lot, robbery at Argyle station, man injured at Belmont 'L'

Three for one

On Saturday, January 7, 2012, around 10:20 p.m., a gun was pulled on a victim in the Uptown Jewel-Osco parking lot at 4355 North Sheridan, said police.

The offenders were described as two male blacks; one in his 20s and the other in his 40s.

One of the crooks brandished the weapon and said, "Give me what you got", said police.

However, it's unclear if any proceeds were taken.

The thieves or would-be thieves were last seen near the intersection of Sheridan and Montrose.

Sunday, at approximately 3 a.m., a robbery was reported at the Argyle Red Line station, 1118 West Argyle.

Investigators said a male black suspect wearing a black jacket, fled the scene eastbound on Argyle, then northbound on Winthrop.

No further details are available regarding this particular incident.

Nearly two hours later, a man was seriously injured at a Lakeview neighborhood train station, said police.

At 5:09 a.m., a man reportedly fell face-first onto the tracks at the Belmont Red Line at 945 West Belmont Avenue.

The injured man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

  1. There are nothing but FREAKS in the parking lot of that Jewel, one guy has needed Metra fare to get to a job interview for about four years now. Another woman is developmentally disabled and when you shoot holes in her panhandling story she just goes off on you.
There's been stories about people grabbing car door handles at the intersection near there and hanging on screaming "I need MONEEEEEYYYYY!!!"

  2. I used to shop at that Jewel ALL THE TIME and I never had a problem with beggars, but that was before the negro-section-8 infestation.

  3. Uh, 5 years ago a date took me to that store to buy an ingredient for a recipe. After our lenghtly discussions, he should have known better. Done. I'm sorry you people feel you have to live like that. Sincerely.

When you say date do you mean "client" and when you say "ingredient" do you me condom and when you say "recipe" do you mean sex?

  5. To 1056 am - Does it matter what the other person may have "meant?" What I took from it is, there is some scary ghetto trash that hangs around the parking lot of that store, looking for handouts or worse, and that trash is driving away legit customers who would otherwise go there to spend money.

In other words, its a microcosm of what's happening to this city - substitute "customers" with "citizens" and "spend money" with "pay taxes."

  6. Actually, and I hate to say this, but most of the worst scumbags in Uptown are Caucasian. I'm an equal opportunity hater, actually.

  7. The scumbags who were shooting up Uptown street corners nightly and committed at least two murders at Christmastime were black.

But like the Equal Opportunity Hater, my issues are more with class & lifestyle, than race. I know plenty of educated, professional blacks (who would be called Uncle Toms by the ghetto thugs) that I have no problem with; likewise, I've crossed paths with many disgusting, gangbanging wannabe whites.

  8. We refer to that store as the Jungle Jewel and shop elsewhere. Whole Foods is always a good choice because spooks don't want healthy foods...they survive on cheet-o's and any brightly colored sodas.

  9. Big Al, thanks for elaborating on my comment. You are correct and the reason I can't hang with those people up there is because they have to attach a post-pubescent sexual innuendo to any and everything, while sometimes pushing 50 years of age and, Anon@12:37, yes, they are sometimes Caucasian. I'm EEH too.

  10. (cont.) and although some could afford to better themselves, they are self-loating, "too cool" or anti-something or another to do such. Various instances of that....while they continually complain about the crime.

When you say "trash" do you mean "concert goers" and when you say "legit customers" do you mean "college student" and when you say "spend money" do you mean "have a party" and when you say "handouts" do you mean "concert tickets"?

  12. The inside of that store sucks too. Not to mention they consitently have 2 cashiers and 4 self-checkouts open. If you shop during the evening rush hour, expect to be in a line 20 people long, and see 8-10 unused checkout lines closed off.

On top of that the cashiers seem angry you went to their line instead of the machine. Don't they realize those things are taking their jobs? Its a sad day when a computer has a better personality than a human...

Why not use the self check out then?
