Northwestern University graduate student robbed at gunpoint on Evanston campus

Northwestern University is reporting a Thursday afternoon robbery on their Evanston, Illinois, campus.

On January 26, 2012, around 2:50 p.m., a Northwestern University graduate student was robbed at gunpoint on the 1100 block of Garnett Place, near Ridge Avenue.

The student was walking eastbound on Garnett from Ridge when two offenders, one of them armed with a gun, took his cell phone, said Evanston police.

After the robbery, the student contacted authorities via a campus emergency phone at Maple Avenue and Emerson Street.

The victim was not harmed and police recovered his cell phone a short distance away from where the robbery occurred.

One offender is a male black, 20 to 25-years-old, about 6'2", and approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt with a light-colored shirt underneath.

The second suspect is also a male black. He is 15 to 20-years-old, about 5'5", 160 pounds with closely cropped hair. He was last seen wearing a black and red fleece jacket.
