Hoax? Bomb scare threatens North Side business

Chicago police are investigating an alleged threat to “blow up” a Far North Side business near the Roger Park, West Rogers Park border.

Monday, just before midnight, authorities were notified that someone made a threatening phone call indicating the S & C Electrical Company at 6601 North Ridge Boulevard, would be blown up Tuesday at 10 a.m.

The caller reportedly said “all 16 buildings” would be targeted.

The person who made the alleged call sounded like a female black, possibly a child, said police dispatch.

Investigators made contact with a S & C Electrical Company employee around 12:04 a.m.

The seriousness of the threat is unknown, but the incident was coded as a 2850, a public peace violation bomb threat.

If more details become available, this article will be updated accordingly.

  1. OK, I know they have to take it seriously, but really, S&C covers 75 acres, no one is going to blow it all up.
They're not even going to blow up any of it.
I live right across the RR tracks from it.
It was just yet another of our local idiots made the call.

  3. It was probably a throwaway cellphone that was used.
They might have the number of the caller, but no way of knowing the name unless they get a court order allowing them to tap the phone & triangulate the location when calls are made.
