Cops: Rogers Park neighborhood home burglarized

A thief reportedly tried to steal a bike from a Rogers Park neighborhood home during the wee hours of the morning.

At 3:19 a.m., when most people are sleeping, a burglar broken into a North Side man’s porch on the 1800 block of West Touhy Avenue, near Touhy and Wolcott Avenues, said police.

The scoundrel tried to take off with the victim’s bike, but the victim managed to retrieve his property, said police.

The suspect was described as a large black man wearing a dark-colored, possibly blue, winter coat with a hood.

According to police, the offender was last seen going eastbound on Touhy.

As of 4:24 a.m., there was no indication the suspect had been arrested.
