Shooting at North Side store, attempted robbery
Gunshots were fired inside a Far North Side neighborhood store late Tuesday evening, said police.
According to police dispatch, at approximately 10:27 p.m., a robbery was reported at 2534 West Peterson Avenue in Chicago’s West Rogers Park, West Ridge neighborhood.
A subsequent report indicated a hold-up alarm was activated and shots were fired inside the Peterson Food Mart at the corner of Peterson and Maplewood Avenues.
Investigators confirmed shots were fired inside the store, but no one was injured and no proceeds were taken from the business.
The shooter was described as a male black with a light complexion, approximately 20-years-old, and about 5’6” to 5’7”.
The would-be robber was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a long white t-shirt underneath, blue jeans, and bright white gym shoes.
Authorities said the punk possibly ran westbound on Peterson Avenue.

UPDATE: Police said one shot was fired inside the store. The suspect may be Middle Eastern. During the attempted armed robbery, the gunman spoke in a Middle Eastern language, possibly Arabic, said police.
