Chicago, Hyde Park crime: 11/12/2011
The following incidents were reported to the University of Chicago Police Department on November 12, 2011.
Funny money at university book store
On Saturday, November 12, 2011, between 10:35 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., someone reportedly used counterfeit money to purchase several items at the University of Chicago Bookstore, 970 East 58th Street.
Authorities said the offender used seven fake $20 bills.
No arrest has been made.
Wallet stolen at university library
On Saturday, November 12, 2011, between 12:35 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., an unknown offender stole a man's wallet at the Regenstein Library at 1100 East 57th Street.
According to authorities, after the theft, the suspect used the victim's credit card to make unauthorized purchases.
Police are still investigating.
Strong arm robbery near Drexel Ave.
On Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 8:55 p.m., a strong arm robbery occurred on East 52nd Street, between the 5200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue and the 5200 block of South Drexel Avenue.
A male victim was walking down the sidewalk when two male offenders forcibly took his wallet and his cell phone, said police.
The thieves are still at large.
