Toddler found wandering North Side, alone

A baby was found wandering the streets on Chicago's North Side early Saturday morning, said police.

According to a preliminary report, around 8:30 a.m., a citizen found a little boy believed to be 3-years-old near the Uptown, Lakeview neighborhood border.

Although it's unclear how far the little boy had traveled, one report indicated the toddler was first spotted somewhere near Sheridan and Broadway.

The child, described as Asian, was wearing pajamas and eating a bag of Cheerios, said authorities.

Around 9:15 a.m., police had the child in a squad car parked at the Uptown Jewel-Osco at 4355 North Sheridan Road.

At the time of this report, there were no known reports of a missing child in the Lakeview, Uptown area.

The toddler was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital for evaluation, said police.

UPDATE: The child lives on the 900 block of West Buena Avenue and his mother contacted police around 10:35 a.m.
