Man robbed, allegedly stabbed near North Side bank
A man was robbed at knifepoint in front of a West Ridge, West Rogers Park neighborhood bank, said police.
The Thursday night mugging occurred around 10 p.m. on the 2700 block of West Devon Avenue, near Devon and Fairfield Avenues, said police.
According to an officer at the scene, the crime happened in front of the Republic Bank at 2720 West Devon.
A preliminary report said the victim was stabbed during the robbery.
However, that information was not confirmed, nor was there any indication an ambulance was called to the scene.
The offender was described as a short, chubby, balding, male black in his 30s.
The suspect was wearing a brown t-shirt and blue jeans. One eyewitness said the perpetrator may have been carrying a white coat or jacket.
Police said the thief was last seen headed southbound on Fairfield.
