Cops: Woman ‘jumped’ from 3rd floor Edgewater apartment window

What started with a series of alleged domestic battery calls, ended with a woman falling or jumping from a third floor apartment window.

Around 1:36 a.m., police were called to 5840 North Sheridan Road in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.

An initial report indicated a woman was possibly being beaten by a man in a fourth floor apartment. Police never confirmed that allegation.

A minute later, at 1:37 a.m., another 911 caller stated a woman inside the building was screaming, hysterically.

At approximately 1:41 a.m., a third caller said a woman inside a third floor apartment was ill.

Several tenants reported a disturbance, but none of them were sure where the woman's cries were coming from.

Before officers could gain entry into the 5-story building, a woman “jumped” from a third floor window, said an officer at the scene.

It is assumed that this was the same woman neighbors heard screaming.

Based on information obtained by Chicago News Report, the woman leapt from a window toward the rear of the property. Furthermore, it appears the woman was alone inside the apartment when the incident occurred.

Medical workers transported the woman to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, for treatment.

  3. Anonymous at 2:52, he is reporting what was heard on the 911 calls. I like hearing what the cops hear. Timothy will always add additional information if he has it.

  4. This building has always been a problem building. It's one of the "talk of Sheridan Rd" buildings. Many dealers/users are said to live there as well but that's just part of the "talk" and I don't have proof of that...wouldn't surprise me though. Very sketchy people going in and out of there.

  5. The online reviews of this place aren't very good. Hope the lady is okay.

  6. Anonymous@2:52, Looks like to me, that Timothy wrote this incident EXACTLY as he heard it from the scanner and unless you've ever listened to a scanner (I have not) how would you know what was said? The articles on CNR would be pretty boring IF Timothy didn't add his comments.

Thank the journalism gods for CNR!
