Talent in Chicago’s Subways: Part 1
Welcome to the first installment of “Talent in Chicago’s Subways”.
From time to time, Chicago News Report will showcase videos of Chicagoans performing in the subway; and you get to be the judge!
Our first contestant was spotted in the subway at the Jackson Red Line “L” stop at 230 South State Street.
His smooth R&B serenade charmed the female commuters waiting on the platform, and a male passenger even tossed him a few coins!
Does this Chicago street performer have what it takes to make in show biz, or should he keep his day job?

At least he's giving us something in return for our $$ rather then just begging:) He was on a roll until he started rapping. Should have stuck to the smooth croning:)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I wasn't fond of the rap portion, either. On the plus side, his delivery was good, he's comfortable with a crowd, and he actually has "stage presence".
ReplyDeleteI heard him yesterday - he definitely can sing!
ReplyDeleteUgh, this guy is ALWAYS at Jackson and has about 3 songs. He routinely goes into this terrible screechy fake female voice during his "skits." He definitely adds a headache to the end of my work day.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't have a "day job", that's why he's busking in the subway
ReplyDeleteWhy cant anything be done with the chronic vagrants that loiter in the downtown subways. There is one lady who I have seen for years sitting with bags of trash. She is clearly severely mentally ill & cannot take care of herself yet CPD and/or other city agencies do nothing. She has very horrible personal hygiene and needs help.
