Uptown: Man stabbed in the throat


At approximately 8:56 p.m., a man was stabbed in the throat in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, said police.

The stabbing occurred on the 900 block of West Montrose Avenue, near Montrose and Hazel Street, said authorities.

One source said the crime happened in front of 914 West Montrose.

According to police dispatch, two men were involved in an altercation near the Uptown Jewel-Osco at 4355 North Sheridan Road, when one man stabbed the other man in the throat with a broken bottle.

An officer at the scene said the stabbing victim was bleeding profusely.

Police identified the offender as a Hispanic man named Oscar Acosta from the 900 block of West Lawrence Avenue.

Acosta is approximately 5’6”, 140 pounds, and was last seen wearing black pants and no shirt.

Investigators said Acosta was last seen running northbound on the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road.

The victim, who is said to be 22-years-old, was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
