North Side Beachgoers turned away due to 'overcrowding'
As of 9:45 a.m., at least two North Side Chicago beaches reached their capacity, said city officials.
Chicago police closed the entrances and exits at Montrose Harbor Beach at 601 West Montrose Avenue and Foster Beach at 5200 North Lake Shore Drive, due to “overcrowding”.
At the time of this report, newcomers to the beaches were being turned away.
There was no indication how long the entrances and exits will be closed.

It would be beneficial if the police shared this with the Tribune and Sun Times...just saying
ReplyDeleteI must not be human or something, I've never seen the appeal of roasting in the sun and sand. I'd rather swim in a proper pool in the evening.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the beach is totally overrated.
ReplyDeleteI saw Foster Beach from a high rise. Didn't look too packed, but probably parking was an issue.
ReplyDeleteNote: The beaches were closed FOR CARS. There was no problem entering Montrose Beach on foot or by bike. The exits are closed whenever they run out of room to park any more cars. This happens EVERY summer weekend day when lots of people head towards the water.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm sure glad it was parking and NOT ghetto thugs causing trouble. What a relief!
